The center is nestled in Manchester, Michigan, right outside of Ann Arbor and just minutes south of the city of Chelsea. The farm has views of rolling hills and open spaces surrounded by a country road lined with majestic hardwood trees. Gardens are being incorporated in the grounds of the farm and arena areas, creating a beautiful and peaceful environment that provides a place to relax.
The initial mission of Souls at Play Equine Center is to provide energetic-based, equestrian therapy through specifically designed situation oriented sessions. These sessions are to be available to individuals, couples, parents, families, foster children, horse owners and corporate team builders. The goal of these sessions is to assist people to experience increased self-awareness, self empowerment, peace and an ability to play that most adults have lost.
The ultimate goal of the Souls at Play Equine Center is not only to provide these horse-related, healing services but to over time add two additional facilities. The first facility will offer a broad range of creative types of therapy and workshops. The second facility will be a separate, trauma-recovery center with a homelike setting where trauma survivors can safely live and heal in a natural setting with the support of a well-trained staff and many additional forms of therapy. Sarah DesJardins continues to plan for this treatment center while exploring funding options, always keenly aware of the absence of any trauma-recovery center in southeast Michigan, let alone a facility that is designed to care for the specific healing requirements of trauma survivors.
